Two stories about women, which caught my notice last month:
Her husband died leaving her destitute with 3 kids. Being illiterate, she did not know what to do.
She could have taken up housework but rather chose to venture into the male dominated profession.
She got her husband’s license changed into her name and now works as a porter in Jaipur Railway Station. You can’t keep a good woman down!
In Chennai a woman stole a 10 sovereign gold chain in a unique way. This woman wore a hijab and went to a fairly large and busy gold jewelry shop and asked to see chains weighing about 10 sovereigns (80gms)
The sales persons jumped up to serve her. They pulled out tray after tray of chain. (Each tray would have about 6 chains hanging from a hook)
The woman tried them one after another and preened herself in the mirror. Then she said that she did not like any of them and left.
The sales person saw that all the chains were in place and let her go.
Only later that night they discovered that one of the chains looked different from their usual fare. On checking it was found that one was a fake jewel.
On playing the footage from the shops CCTV they could clearly see the woman, push a gold chain into the recess of her dress and stealthily exchange it for another one from her person. Opportunity makes a thief?
